My column in this morning’s Forum outlines a letter American Crystal Sugar sent to union employees at its factories in Moorhead, East Grand Forks, Crookston, Hillsboro and Drayon.
I talked with Lisa Borgen, Crystal’s VP of administration, and she said the letter was simply to let employees know what’s happening.
“We’re very hopeful we will be able to meet and get everything resolved,” she said. “At the same time, we want to be prepared for whatever might happen.”
I talked with several union employees and representatives. They said they believe the letter was threatening and was an attempt by the company to paint the union as being stubborn and greedy.
